Exploiting the Transformative Features of Metal Halides for the Synthesis of CsPbBr₃@SiO₂ Core–Shell Nanocrystals

The encapsulation of colloidal lead halide perovskite nanocrystals within silica (SiO2) is one the strategies to protect them from polar solvents and other external factors. Here, we demonstrate overcoating CsPbBr3 with by exploiting anhydride-induced transformation Cs4PbBr6 nanocrystals. CsPbBr3@SiO2 core–shell are obtained after (i) a reaction between maleic anhydride in toluene that yields maleamic acid (ii) silica-shell growth around via hydrolysis added alkoxysilanes. necessary promote shell formation alkoxysilanes, as demonstrated control experiments. best samples as-prepared consist ?10 nm single-crystal cores surrounded ?5–7 amorphous shell.
